Lincoln will participate in the National Geographic Bee. The contest is designed to spark student interest and increased public awareness about geography.
The BEE occurs in 3 stages. It begins at the school level and the winner of the school level takes a written test. The top 100 scores of this written test in each state then compete at the state level. The winner of the state BEE proceeds to the national competition. All children in 4th through 6th grade are eligible to participate. Last year over 30 students participated in the study sessions and school bee. The study sessions are lots of fun, the children have an opportunity to play geography related games, put together maps and solve puzzles.
STUDY SESSIONS HELD: During lunch hour (12:45-1:15) in Room 19. Geo Bee meetings/practice sessions for grades 4-6 will start Wednesday, November 2 at lunch in Room 19 and will run until January 4. Practice dates are subject to change depending on Lincoln's schedule. Important Dates Wednesday January 11, 2012 | School Bee Thursday January 12, 2012 | School Bee
