General Meeting Minutes May 11, 2011 Lincoln Library
Meeting called to order: 12:20p.m. March meeting minutes approved.
President Lisa Pearson Report: Thank You: To the wonderful team of women headed up by Cynthia Strasmann who put on the amazing Calypso event. Gwen, Cynthia and Lacey we recognize and appreciate all of your hard work and dedication. Thank you. Budget meeting will be this Friday to finalize the budget for next year. E-Blast Request: Please give 2 days notice for items that need to be sent out.
Treasurer Sue Fritts Report: Sue presented everyone with a handout of the Treasurers report. The Report was from February 26, 2011 through April 28, 2011. She made a motion that the warrants issued from February 26, 2011 to April 28, 2011 of $115,509.83 be ratified………..motion approved.
Principal Jane Holm Report: Test Time at Lincoln! The CST is a difficult and lengthy test and the teachers and students are doing a fantastic job with it. Please complete the parent survey online. Jill Hennessey was honored at Barnes and Nobel for being a favorite teacher. Congratulations to her and Dana Levenson who wrote the winning essay. The teachers put together a wish list and it was presented to the board. The board has voted to approve some of the tech requests.
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer Report: We need a treasurer! Please let her know if you know anyone qualified.
Historian Dandy O’Shea Report: Erin Greenwald presented Lisa Pearson and Portia Fischer with the Honorary Service Awards. Congrats ladies! We have other service awards that will be handed out over the next few weeks.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Monday May 16th “Wild about our Teachers” Talent Show: Will take place both 5/25 and 5/26 Open House: June 9th. Annette O’Hearn reported: We will serve Ruby’s and the girl scouts will serve root beer floats Blood Drive: September 9, 2011. Julie Kirsch reported: we need 35 people to sign up to donate blood in order to have the drive 9/9/11. There will be a sign-up at Open House. Book Fair: June 6 through 10th.

General Meeting Minutes March 9, 2011 Lincoln Library
Guest speaker: Monica Venable from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. With Melissa Belluz gave a presentation about alcohol and the media. They work together on education and prevention of underage drinking.

President Lisa Pearson Report: Thank You: Julie White and Wendy Braun for the Spirit Run Gwen Cruttenden for the Science Fair To everyone who completed the online PTA survey. Results showed that TLC, Book Fair and Science Fair are top 3 priorities. Lincoln will be hosting Race to Nowhere 4/20: purchase tickets online.
Treasurer Sue Fritts Report: Sue presented everyone with a handout of the Treasurers report from 1/28/11 to 2/25/11 and the audit from September 2010 through December 2010. Carolyn made a motion that the warrants issued from January 28th thru February 25th be ratified and the audit approved…..motion approved.
Principal Jane Holm Report: The teachers and staff loved the Jog-a-Thon. It was a great event and it promoted lots of school spirit. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to TLC, the “Walk Through’s” have been taking place in 4th , 5th and 6th grade and they are such a great way of learning our social sciences. The Police Department is making cuts and the DARE officer position may be eliminated. If you want to give input please contact Bill Hartford 644-3710.
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer Report: Portia presented the slate of PTA officers for the 2011/2012 year. A motion was made by Bretta that the 2011/2012 slate be approved……..motion approved.

Meeting called to order: 12:22 p.m. January 12, 2011 meeting minutes approved.
President Lisa Pearson Report: Thank You: Laurie Preedge for the SOS Can Drive Dana Neiger for the Bully Assembly Nikki Rener for the 6th Grade Dare Graduation Lincoln will be hosting Race to Nowhere 4/20. Zone Pac Update: CdM 50th Anniversary is next year. Bonds have been sold for the middle school enclave and work will begin 2013. The CdM theater and Middle school enclave will be done at the same time. Harbor Council PTA Update: TdP booster is needed for all kids going into Jr High. 3/21 is the special ed talent show
Treasurer Sue Fritts Report: Sue presented everyone with a handout of the Treasurers report from 12/30/10 to 1/28/11. Moira made a motion that the warrants issued from December 30th through January 28th be ratified…..motion approved. Portia made a motion to approve a mini-grant for Mr Berg to purchase new laptops in an amount not to exceed 12k………motion approved.
Principal Jane Holm Report: People at the district are doing a great job of handling the absence of Dr Hubbard. Paul Reed has been communicating and working with everyone. The District leadership is in good shape. Lincoln has strong teams of teachers who have shared ideas with Eastbluff teachers and everyone has learned from each other.
Executive VP Moira Finear Report: Jog-a-Thon pledge forms are due Monday 2/14 Calypso Underwriters party is 3/19 Auction items are needed for Calypso.
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer Report: Motion was made to approve the Nominating Committee Slate that has been posted in the office for past 30 days….motion approved. Next month she will present and vote of slate of PTA positions.
VP of Community Carolyn Shaw Report: Some classrooms have received the recyclable party packs. The recycle team has a bin for used clothes and shoe donations. There is a need for someone to maintain Savannahs Garden.

Meeting called to order: 12:22 p.m. October 13, 2010 meeting minutes approved.
President Lisa Pearson Report: Thank You: Carolyn for the fabulous Holiday Luncheon Erin for doing the Cookie Dough fundraiser Tina and Mary for the Book Fair And Thank You to our new SOS Coordinator: Laurie Preedge. The Lincoln 4/5/6th grade classes adopted 109 people this year through SOS. Our Giving Tree provided hundreds more gifts for children.
Lincoln will be hosting Race to Nowhere either 4/20 or 4/21 with Eastbluff.
Treasurer Sue Fritts Report: Sue presented everyone with a handout of the Treasurers report from 9/29/10 to 12/30/10. Moira made a motion that the warrants issued from September 29th to December 30th be ratified…..motion approved.
Principal Jane Holm Report: Happy New Year! The children are ready to learn and make big developmental jumps after the break. Lincoln Baby News: Mrs Evans and Mrs Davidson are expecting. All of our teachers will be spending a day working with their grade level team of teachers to go over key standards and new materials. Lincoln teachers are trying to be special friends to children they see who are not interacting with other children. The kids will have not only their teacher but other adults on campus who care about them. 1/27 is the Cyber-Sense presentation we are encouraged to attend.
Executive VP Moira Finear: Chairmen will give updates: Calypso Chair Cynthia Strasmann Report: Calypso on the Green is in “Full Swing”. We have a day of the event Golf Tourney and Evening “PNO” (parent night out). The tourney will have a pro clinic and putting contest and be scramble format. 5:30 the cocktail reception begins, casual attire. There will be live and silent auction Jill Hennessey will be performing with Jumping Jack Flash. There is also a Lincoln Kids for Calypso Campaign with many fun events planned. Jog-a-thon Chairs Report: “Lincoln Leopards Run with Heart” is theme. Day of Event: Each class will run for 20 minutes. Coach Sumner from CdM will be here as well as the Newport Beach Fire Department. Need 3-5 volunteers for each day of the runners club and parents need to sign a waiver. Parliamentarian Portia Fischer Report: The nominating committee has been formed and notes will be sent home asking parents to participate in PTA. Please take a moment to fill out the form and return it.
Vice President of Programs Dana Neiger: Chairs will give update Science Fair Chair Gwen Cruttenden Report: The Science Fair will be Thursday 2/10. Please fill out the applications and get them in. We will not have food or drinks for sale at the science fair but there will be prizes for participation.

Meeting called to order: 12:15 p.m. September 22nd meeting minutes approved.
Guest speaker NMUSD Superintendant, Dr Hubbard.
Pat Rolfes gave a presentation on the Campbell Haunted House.
Principal Jane Holm update: We have a great new 5th grade teacher. The 4th and 5th grade classes now have between 26 and 30 students.
President Lisa Pearson update: Thank you to: Gwen and Valerie for the hard work on the Lincoln Log. Dorothy Joynt for giftwrap Lisa Skoniezny for Lincoln Wear. Debbie Dajee for EScript.
VP of Ways and Means Moira Finear update: We will have a Jog-a-thon 12/15. Cookie Dough fundraiser is going to be in November. Cynthia Strausmann presented “Calypso on the Green” parents night out funraiser. There will be a golf tourney during the day and parent party in the evening all taking place at Oak Creek Golf Course. She has lots of activities to help get the kids involved. Helicopter golf ball drop and other events. Treasurer Sue Fritts update: Sue presented everyone with 1 handout of financial reports for the period ending September 29th , 2010. She made a motion that we pass the list of warrants……motion approved.
TLC Update by Robin Nasser: We are going into the last 2 weeks of our TLC campaign. We have 110K.

General Meeting Minutes September 22, 2010 Lincoln Library
Meeting called to order: 12:20 May meeting minutes were approved
President Lisa Pearson update: Thank you to: Jodi Cuthbertson for hospitality, Tracy Rothrock for e-mail, Karin Crockett for Lincoln website, Gwen Cruttenden for getting kids in charge of Lincoln Log There will be no Sprit Run this year. The Middle school Enclave plans were made available for people to review.
Treasurer Sue Fritts update: We need an auditor. Sue presented the analysis of the financial reports for the period ending 8/30/10. Sue made a motion that the warrants of $63,613.55 be rarified…….approved. Sue made a motion to pass the 2010/11 budget………….…………approved.
Principal Jane Holm update: This is her 7th year at Lincoln. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make this a smooth beginning of the school year. Jane outline the District requirements for volunteering in the classroom. The theme this year is "Be Kind" We will continue with the John Wooden pyramid of success. Jane gave a presentation of test scores and discussed the test scores and what the goals are for the Lincoln teachers for the coming year. Lincoln is a great place to be.
Executive VP Moira Finear update: Gift Wrap has started. Calypso is Friday May 13th and is a golf tournament. Go to the party after the tourney even if you do not golf. A car has been donated. Cookie Dough fundraiser will begin 11/7. 2nd VP TLC Treasurer Robin Nasser update: The Heartbeat of Lincoln Board will be updated weekly. We have received 46k to date, there is a TLC donation box in the office. Robin also is working on the directory.
4th VP of Programs Dana Neiger update: The enrichment programs are all in place. 5th VP of Community Carolyn Shaw update: The Green Team is hard at work. Drop off your recyclables on Fridays. Susan Thabit update: The parent lounge has been redone and is up and working and in great shape. Thank you Susan!
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer update: We need a family night coordinator and an auditor. Please let her know if you can help.

General Meeting Minutes October 14, 2009 11:15 am Lincoln Library
Meeting called to order: 11:25 am September 9th meeting minutes approved.
Principal Jane Holm update: Things are going well here at school. There are children out sick with flu-like symptoms but no one has reported having H1N1 virus. A letter has been posted on school loop and will go home today. Red Ribbon Week and Cyber Safety Week are next week, each grade will have age appropriate discussions about both of these topics. We have amazing teachers! Each grade level team works together. Jane gave the example of 2nd grade teachers who met and put together a plan of action for this year. They discussed goals and the action steps needed to get from where the kids are now to meeting those goals. This year the teacher training focus is on writing. The in service day will be about Voice/Organization and writing.
President Lisa Pearson update: Thank you to: Deborah Polsinelli-Thompson for taking on the e-mail job Lavina Daswani for doing the wrapping paper Victoria Davis and Julia Bruening for working on Calypso Kathleen Miller, Karin Lombardo and Cheryl Allison our Spirit Run Team We are taking on some new fundraisers: Ruby’s, Cookie Dough, Jamba Juice Fridays. Reflections projects are due 11/3 the showcase will be 11/10.
Treasurer Sue Fritts update: Sue presented everyone with 1 handout of financial reports for the period ending September 29th , 2009. Dana made a motion that the warrants of $79,193 be ratified. Motion approved Portia made a motion to approve the 2009/10 Budget. Motion approved
TLC Update by Bretta Weimann and Carolyn Hurray: We are going into the last 2 weeks of our TLC campaign. We have 155k with a 40% family participation rate. Pizza party for the class with 100% participation at the end of the month.
Vice President of Programs Colleen Premer update: The Recycling program is underway. They have a $1000.00 grant to use this year. They have created an upper grade Green Team. Water bottles are for sale. 11/5 is district wide recycling event. Tile update: a site modification form was sent to the district and they are waiting for approval. Need a person to install the tiles.
Calypso update: Calypso will be held 3/6 chair is Victoria Davis. On-line Auction will be the week before and the chairman is Julia Bruening. Still need a chair and a date for the underwriting party. The party will be held at the Thabits.
Haunted House: 4-8 pm on the 29th
Public Input: Gwen Cruttenden discussed getting the 5th and 6th grade classes involved in putting together the Lincoln Log.
President Suzanne made the following announcements about the 6th grade play: 6th grade Parent Orientation meeting will be Thursday 10/22 12:30 in the MPR, please note the change in meeting time. Audition sign-ups for the kids will be 10/23 during lunch. Auditions will be November 9th, 10th and 12th after school. Performance date for the play are now March 24th thru 27th 2010.

Meeting called to order: 12:15
Dr Jeffrey Hubbard was the guest speaker at the beginning of our PTA Meeting.
Historian Edie Denning presented Honorary Service Awards to: Suzanne Woods & Julia Bruening. The Awards Dinner will be May 10th.
February 10th meeting minutes approved. Next PTA meeting May 12, 2010.
President Lisa Pearson update: Thank you to: Edie Denning as Historian Colleen Premer for tile installation Laura Udkoff and Laurie Hack for producing the 6th grade play Kathleen Miller, Karin Lombardo, Cheryl Allison for the Spirit Run Victoria Davis and Julia Bruening for Calypso Harbor Council report: Suggested reading is Drive by Dan Pink and The Death and life of the Great American School System by Diane Ravitch. National testing coming.
Treasurer Sue Fritts update: Sue presented everyone with 1 handout of financial reports for the period ending March 30,2010. Sue made a motion that the warrants of $25,780.00 be ratified. Motion approved. Sue made a motion to pay $3300.00 for Bill Nye the Science DVD’. Motion approved.
Principal Jane Holm Report: Lincoln is in great shape. No teachers at Lincoln received pink slips. Main thing we will notice is class size increase up to 24 next year. Star testing begins the first week of May.
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer update: Portia made a motion that we approve the slate for 2010/2011 Lincoln Executive Board……motion approved. The Installation Dinner will be held May 19th 6pm at the Bungalow Restaurant. Positions that still need to be filled are Lincoln Log, Spirit Run and Yearbook.
Catrina Campbell reported: We are going back to Scholastic for our Book Fair in June. It will be held 6/7 – 6/11. They are setting up 6/4.

President Lisa Pearson update: Thank you to: Cynthia Strasmann and Gwen Cruttenden for the science fair. Jennifer Rolfes for the 6th grade Dare Luncheon. Emma and Jenny Hogan for Soles for Souls Haiti shoe drive. Harbor Council report: Jane will cover in her report. Zone Pac report: Measure F plan has been changed to Plan 4.
Treasurer Sue Fritts update: Sue presented everyone with 1 handout of financial reports for the period ending January 28th, 2010. Portia made a motion that the warrants of $76,667.27 be ratified. Motion approved. Bretta made a motion to approve the Treasurers Report. Motion approved.
As Underwriting Chair for Calypso Sue Reports: Underwriting has received 10k to date. It will be a great party, invites have gone out to former donors.
Principal Jane Holm Report: The District is cutting 13.5 million from the budget. The plan the board approved was balanced and kept the cuts as far away from the students as possible. Not cutting PE, music, high school sports, science. Not having furlough days for teachers. There is going to be an increase in class size at Lincoln. The district posted all cuts on the website. Congratulations to many members of the staff: Holly Rauch is the Lincoln Teacher of the Year! Grant writers: Amber Norquist, Chandra Prough, Holly Rauch, Sue Lemke, Julie Duddridge. Susie Jacobson brought in lots of money for programs for the school.
Parliamentarian Portia Fischer update: The nominating committee met. The PTA slated Executive Board positions have been posted in the front office. They will be voted on at the April meeting. The Installation Dinner will be held May 19th 6pm. Historian Edie Denning update: Honorary Service Awards dinner is May 10th Vice President of Programs Colleen Premer update: We have been taking recyclables at the bin every Friday. We have filled the bin again. Organic garden is going in front of Duys office. With the grant money we are trying a pilot program of buying party packs for classrooms so we won’t have paper goods at class parties. The room mom would be in charge of the storage/cleaning of the packs. Committee Reports: Calypso Auction: Julia Bruening reports that all is going well. Bring in any last minute donations. The online auction will start 2/24. It will close the night of the party. No live auction planned for this event. Calypso: Victoria Davis reports that the party is at the Sports Museum. Wear sports attire. There will be a rolling buffet, entertainment, a few auction items, bar with inexpensive drinks. Teacher tickets are $50. Science Fair: Gwen Cruttenden reports there were 250 participants this year. Talent Show: Victoria Davis reports it will be in May after STAR testing. Kids can be in only 1 act.
